Congratulations

Sophie Rowe has completed the Level 2 teacher’s course and has already passed the practical side of the assessment. She awaits the results of her Theory test.

In the meantime she will work alongside Gareth to gain experience and will work for the time being with Group 4,Elite and Junior Elite squads. Sometimes she will take the squad teatime sessions when Gareth is on the late shift at his main place of work, but be assured that Gareth will be fully involved in sorting out the training sets.

Teatime sessions

Please make sure that swimmers attending training sessions at teatime pay for a swim £1.75 at reception. They must also take their receipt and hand it to Ros on the poolside before entering the water. Anyone not giving the receipt to Ros will have to sit on the poolside and miss the session. We have to be fair to the pool management who help us out in many, many ways.

Help required

From time to time we require extra help at the front desk. If you are able to fulfill this role leave your details with Christine or Mary

For sale

Second Hand pair of short training fins, size 8-9, complete with bag.  £5. See Mary

Changing Rooms

Can we remind you that the behaviour of the children in the changing rooms is the responsibility of parents. Please make sure you know what your children are doing. We are not allowed to ask an adult to supervise on our behalf unless they are CRB checked.

Physio

We are still looking for someone who can help Elaine to advise swimmers with injuries. If you are a doctor or physio, with an interest in sports medicine, please make yourself known to Elaine.

More congratulations

Water polo is a thriving section of our club and thanks must go to the volunteer coaches Mark Brundle, Mark Sutcliffe and Jason Taylor.

It’s thanks to their dedication and encouragement that several players are moving on to bigger and better things.

Anna Sutcliffe and Luke Franks, who are already training with the Great Britain Youth Squad, have been accepted to join the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence Scheme a two year course running alongside their continuing education for two years. A great accolade. Well done.

Anna is a member of the Leeds Ladies team, playing in the National League. Luke and Josh Berry are playing for Leeds Mens team in the National League.

Nick Truelove, Young Gawthorpe, Ethan Somerville-Jones, Evie Andrews and Emily Sutcliffe were invited to the Millfield National Academy, for Water Polo Assessment & Training.

They already attend the Regional Training Centre at Sheffield and now await news of the possibility of joining the GB development Squad, just as Luke and Anna did last year. Good luck to you all.
