Gala entries
The entry list for Gala 1 on 25th February is now closed.
Entries for gala 2 can be made during March.
If you are entering a gala for the first time here is what to do. Arrive at 7.00p.m. and register with the competitor’s stewards in the reception area. Bring two towels, a T shirt and a drink; you need to keep your body warm after the warm up and towels always get soggy. Swimmers may only go on to the balcony if they are dressed and wearing shoes. Please do not go from poolside straight on to the balcony. Wet feet make for slippery steps! Once you have registered, get changed and take a towel and Tshirt with you on to the pool side. Boys wait by the diving pit and girls meet by the learner pool. More stewards will be there to tell you what to do. Good luck. Club Tshirt? Put your name in!
Squads – Elite and Junior Elite
Gareth has asked me to remind all squad swimmers that we are a competitive club and you are being trained to compete. Entries for the Yorvik A, B and C grade gala are currently being collected by Ros and must be in by 1st March.
Again I would like to remind parents and swimmers that on Thursday nights the training session for these two groups does NOT finish at 9.00p.m. The earliest swimmers should be leaving is 9.15p.m. If this causes a problem please talk to Gareth.
Congratulations
Some of our swimmers combine swimming with other sports. Sadie Greetham (14) continues to make her mark in fencing and in modern pentathlon. Adding to her Yorkshire and Humberside modern pentathlon and triathlon titles, she has recently been crowned the 2010 Yorkshire Junior Epee champion. Sadie now fences for Great Britain at cadet (under 17) level and has recently been to internationals at Grenoble in France and Gothenberg in Sweden with the British team. Well done, Sadie.

Water polo
This is an exciting time for our water polo section. Several of the younger players have been selected to enhance their careers within the sport. Watch the website over the next few weeks for further news.
You need to be a good swimmer to be able to play water polo well. All the excellent swim training they have undertaken has made this possible. Keep it up.
Volunteers - Thank you
Michelle Thornton has volunteered to collect raffle Prizes for galas. If you have any unwanted Christmas or birthday presents please pass them on to her.
Sue Sutcliffe has volunteered to collate gala entries. She is available on the balcony from 7.40 to 8.10p.m on Thursdays.
Presentation Evening
Again another successful evening. Thanks to all those who attended. If you could not attend, but have won a trophy or other award, please come to the desk on Thursday. Congratulations to all. It was especially good for our club to recognize 4 members who have been with the club for 50 years or more. Look for their names on the trophies you have won: Colin Procter, Michael Oates, Graham Hague and Bill Akroyd. Michael and Bill still swim on Thursdays and Bill still plays water polo.
Fees
Fees for February are now due. If you can help with the collection of these fees on 4th February, please come forward. Christine is on holiday.
ASA Category 2 fees £22.50 must be paid by 28th February.
