Internal gala.
Well done to all who entered gala 1. It was a new experience for several swimmers, and I’m sure they will have learned something about how a gala is run and that next time they will have more confidence. Our galas are run according to ASA/Fina rules and some of the officials who work on the poolside have trained over a long period of time to make decisions about the swimming they see. You will have noticed that some children were disqualified for infringements of the rules. If your child was one of these, please do not be alarmed. Use the disqualification as a learning experience. Next time, ask the referee to explain what went wrong and you can help the children to understand.

Where there are equal points we have looked at the difference in times to determine position.
Entries for Gala 2 will open on Thursday 4thMarch. Any movement between groups will have been finalized by then. Closing dates for entries will be 18th March. No late entries will be accepted. Elite and Junior Elite Swimmers can also see Sue Sutcliffe at the teatime training sessions. Remember, over the year each swimmer must compete in all four strokes at least twice.
If you didn’t enter Gala 1 we hope to see you in Gala 2. Remember we are a competitive club and everybody should be learning how to compete.
Badges and certificates
When the results are confirmed, parents will be able to purchase certificates and badges at a cost of £2.30. Orders will be taken at the front desk until we can find a volunteer to help out with this job. Please make yourself known to Mary if you can help. Cash with order please
Trophy winners
All trophies presented at Presentation Evening in January need to be engraved. Please take them to Briggs Priestley in Halifax and charge them to our account. Try to take them as soon as possible. Some people waited till the last minute this year and we were close to not having certain trophies ready to be presented. A letter will be sent in December telling you when to return them. Ask at Briggs Priestley about cleaning your trophy. Some of them are quite valuable and need to be looked after.
We pay for club trophies to be engraved. Any you win at an outside gala must be paid for by you.
Fees
Fees are now due for March. Thank you for paying promptly.
Any outstanding ASA Category 2 fees £22.50) must be paid this week or the children will not be registered for outside competitions for 2010. If in doubt please talk to Christine.
If you sit in a chair, thank you. Please come this week to fill in a membership form as we have to register you with the ASA.
