HALIFAX WORK HARD, BUT GET NO REWARD

After a convincing win in their first game Halifax S.C. U14s came unstuck against a all round strong Castleford team losing 4-18 in the Wakefield & District Water Polo League. The score does not reflect
the effort and teamwork Halifax put into this game with five first year players, but over four quarters Castleford were too strong which why they are hot tip to win the league.

After the first two quarters Castleford had moved into a 10-0 lead, But Halifax could count themselves unlucky, with good build up in play from Liam Clegg, Harvey Keighley Payne and Oli Marshall which resulted in hitting the woodwork three times with shots from Emily Sutcliffe and Ethan Somerville Jones twice, who was Halifax's man of the match and a constant threat to Castleford throughout the match.

The third quarter Halifax got their reward for good play with goals the first, a fine shot from Chris Truelove after excellent work from Matthew Bottomley and Amy Fillingham. A minuite later a pass from keeper William Crabtree found defender Ellis Gawthorpe whose pass to Emily Sutcliffe and she made no mistake from five yards. Castleford also got on the score sheet four times in this quarter, near the end of the quarter Evie Andrews found Ethan Somerville Jones in space and he scored with an excellent shot.

Castleford scored four more times in the last quarter against an overworked Halifax defence, Ethan Somerville Jones found the back of the net for his second goal of the game for Halifax, who battled to the end of the match.
