Internal gala.

The results for gala 2 are now on the website. Check to see how you have done.

Congratulations to the swimmers who have moved up to the next group and to the medal winners.

Certificates and badges for achieving qualifying times are available at the desk on Thursdays. Cost £2 for each event.

Entries are now open for gala 3 and it’s time to think about what you have already entered and what you need to do next. If you are close to moving to the next group have you got the qualifying time in the Front Crawl? To get more points you need to be better than the time you have achieved at a previous gala. Have you entered events in all strokes yet? All strokes should be swum twice during the year

Ideally on gala nights we would like some coaches to be present on poolside for consultation with swimmers after each event. Unfortunately we are so short of parent volunteers to try some of the jobs that make the galas run effectively, that we have to use coaches to do them.   If you could be a competitor’s steward or a timekeeper, Sophie, Julie, and Nina could be made available to speak to the swimmers after their events. It’s not a good habit for your child to look to you to find out how he/she has done in any particular race. Elaine will be back next week from her extended stay in New Zealand. If you are interested in helping out, training will be available. Talk to Elaine.

Gareth will be spending valuable time on the balcony being available to answer parent’s queries. If you have a question, seek him out!

External Galas

When your child is confidently coping with the routines of internal galas you should start to consider entering competitions against swimmers from other clubs starting with Bradford and District and/or Kirklees and District competitions. Junior Elite Swimmers should be ready for this next step, but there will also be others. The children enjoy cheering for each other and there’s a great camaraderie amongst them. If you are not sure please have a word with Gareth.

There are entry fees for these galas. You pay for individual events; the club pays for team events.

Ros chooses people for team events from the results from previous events. She also distributes programmes and collects entries for most external galas.

Fundraising.

Steve Berry won the first bonus ball competition and Andrew Langton the second.

Some parents have expressed a wish to only play once a month. Unfortunately this will not help us to raise sufficient funds to provide a free social and presentation evening in January. We need to raise at least £500. Have you any ideas? A football card is currently in circulation on Thursdays. 75% of takings to the winner, 25% to the club.

Kit

Each swimmer needs at least a cap and T shirt. Come to the desk on Thursdays to find out more. Hoodies are now available from £15.

Look on the website for full details. We get commission for other items bought from Swimshop through the link on the website

Data Protection

Please make sure we have your completed ASA forms by this coming Thursday, 6th May.
