Gala entries.

Several people missed the deadline for entries for Gala 3 and we have some disappointed swimmers. We need to have a cut off point to give enough time to the people who are involved in all the work necessary in preparing the programme. If you know you are not going to be able to see Sue Sutcliffe by the closing date, you can email your entries to Mary but they must be dated by the closing date. You also all find her home phone number in the gala rules. She will then pass your entries to Sue.

Point score update

The highest scores to date are William  Leung with 52 points and Lois Shackleton with 60 points.

Kit

Whenever you swim in a competition you should be wearing the club kit. T shirts, hoodies, bags, swimsuits, trunks, caps and goggles are available at the table on Thursdays. If we do not have your size, we can get whatever you require.

Kirklees and District Teams gala

Ros informs me that we have a team entered in every age group for this gala. Thank you. Halifax Swimming Club is providing a new trophy for the mixed 9/10 yrs freestyle event at this gala. It would be fantastic if ours was the first name on that trophy. Good luck to you all.

Congratulations

Clare Mack, one of the newer members to the Elite Squad, recently took part in the City of Liverpool Open Water Meet. She won the Ivan Percival Trophy for the Junior 2 mile freestyle event, coming in with a time faster than all the men and women in the Senior event. Well done, Clare.

Water Polo

Josh Berry has been invited for a trial for the GB training squad. We wish you well, Josh.

Welfare Officer

Our welfare officer is Elizabeth Fielden. She is responsible for making sure that all the people in the club, who have regular contact with the swimmers, have completed the CRB checks.

If you have any issues about the welfare of children in our club she is the person to speak to. She is available on Thursday evenings.

Safeguarding Children.

Two courses will be running in June and people have been identified to attend. If you would like to attend a course in the future tell Elaine Shaw, our Workforce co-ordinator.

A course will be arranged soon for all those people who have volunteered to sit in an observer chair. It will probably take place on a Thursday evening during a training session.

Committee meeting

The next committee meeting is scheduled for Monday 21st June. If you have anything you would like us to discuss please let one of the committee members know this week. If you would like to join the team who make decisions which affect the running of the club for your children, we have room to co-opt two more people. Talk to any committee member.

Advance notice

Just to let you know that the club will be closed for the first two weeks in August. Fees for that month will be as normal. You will get a free month in December to make up the time.

Fees

Fees are now due for June. Prompt payment would be appreciated
