Halifax Swimming Club

What to do if you have a GRIEVANCE or COMPLAINT.

The Club sets out to treat all its members equally, to offer similar opportunities to its members at their appropriate standard, and to try its best to be fair.

What we do is prescribed by the Laws of England, the ASA’s Code of Conduct, the ASA, ASA NE Region, YSA County Rules, and by our own Club rules. All of these Rules are available upon the appropriate web sites.

If you should be concerned about something that the Club or one of its Members has done, or not done, then please follow the following steps:-

If you have concerns about any aspect of the provision of Teaching or Coaching then the matter must be raised in the first instance with the teacher or coach concerned. If you are not happy with the outcome then please talk to the Head Coach, Gareth Griffiths. If you speak to a member of the committee about your concerns regarding coaching, they will automatically pass your concern to the Head Coach.

If your concern relates to Child Welfare then please contact Elizabeth Fielden, the Child Welfare Officer of the Swimming Club. Her number can be obtained from the Head Coach or any member of the committee. Alternatively call Swimline on 0808-100-4001, or in emergency Childline on 0808-800-5000.

For any other concerns, then the following procedure applies.

· Raise the issue with the Halifax Swimming Club (HSC) personnel concerned and try to resolve the situation amicably.

· If resolution is not achieved, write to the Honorary Chairperson of HSC, stating the grounds for your dissatisfaction. We will not deal formally with an oral or anonymous complaint.

· The Hon Chairperson will review your concern and:

Ø Will acknowledge receipt of the concern

Ø will attempt (either personally or through another committee member) to settle the issues informally and amicably

Ø if that does not succeed or if the matter is more serious then the Chairperson will follow ASA Judicial Regulations as detailed in the current ASA handbook to determine the dispute

The ASA Judicial Regulations can be found on www.swimming.org
