Gala entries.

The closing date for entries to Gala 4 on 26th August is next Thursday 8th July. There can be no late entries. Some people tried to enter on the night of Gala 3 but were turned away. Don’t let that happen to you.

Point score update

The top scorers after 3 galas are Sophie Stiff and Charlotte Townend on 68 points and Luke Dunne and James Wood on 64 points. Well done.

Certificates are available at the front desk on Thursdays for those swimmers who achieve the qualifying times. The cost is £2.

As well as gaining points we will be working out who is the fastest over the year in each age group for each stroke. The winners will be awarded the trophies at Presentation Evening in January.

The age groups are 10 and under, 12 and under, 15 and under, Junior and Open in both boys and girls. The records for these events can be found on the website. How close to any records are your swimmers?

Kirklees and District Teams gala.

Wow! What a super event. The atmosphere was terrific and I sensed real team camaraderie. Thanks Sophie and Ros for giving up time to help our swimmers on poolside.

Yorvik Gala

This gala is going to be hopefully a fantastic day. Never before have we had 39 swimmers at one meet. I hope you have a super day. Gareth and Sophie will be there to support you on poolside. Enjoy!

Congratulations

Clare Mack has been successful in another Open Water Event, this time at Wykeham Lake when she was placed third in the 2 mile event.

If you fancy trying out in Open Water have a word with Clare.

Junior Elite Squad

We desperately need help from the parents of this group. On Mondays and Tuesdays we need someone to check the registers on poolside, to make sure all the swimmers have paid at reception, and to stay on poolside as an observer in case any Child Protection issues arise. At the moment no-one is doing this essential job. If you can, between you, make sure that this position is covered, I would be grateful. Ros will show you what to do.

Fund raising

Halifax Synchro has a very successful fundraising team. At Brighouse gala last week they raised £310. They will also get a share in the duck race proceeds taking the total amount to around £500. Our clubs effort’s to raise funds for Presentation evening have so far raised £23.25!

Is there anybody out there who could co-ordinate a fundraising team?

Head Coach

For personal reasons Gareth will be taking a sabbatical from 26thAugust. We are working with Calderdale personnel to find the right person to provide cover in a senior capacity during his absence. Gareth remains as Head Coach and we will follow his programme in while he is away.

Fees

Fees are now due for July. Prompt payment would be appreciated

The last session will be on Friday 30th July. The club will then close for two weeks. Training will restart on Monday 13th August
