About The Club PDF Print E-mail
Halifax Swimming Club was founded in 1864 and is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the country. Our aim is to encourage and promote the teaching and coaching of competitive aquatic sports.

The main club night is Thursday with assessments on new swimmers carried out between 7:15pm and 7:45pm. We are open 50 weeks of the year and only close over the Christmas period when the pool is closed.

Membership fees, which include some ASA registration fees, are payable in January each year . Category 2 swimmers need to pay their own ASA fees together with the membership fee. Swimming/Coaching fees are collected in advance every 10 weeks.

All the swimming coaches are volunteers with professional qualifications. The Chief Coach and Assistant are employees of the Club.

Halifax Swimming Club is a non profit making organisation run by a Committee which meets 6 times per year. The club has a Constitution and Equity Policy as required by the ASA and as a member you will be asked to sign a Code of Conduct for Parents and Swimmers.

There is a welfare officer who ensures that we adhere to all necessary legislation and you will be asked to complete a medical form with your membership form.

There are 5 Internal Club Galas per year and all swimmers are expected to take part as soon as they are capable.

We compete at local, Graded, Open, County, District and National Level. We also have an enthusiastic Water Polo, and Masters Sections.

Diving and Synchronised swimming are council run, and compete under the Clubs’ name and constitution.

Parents are encouraged to help with all Club Activities.
