Fundraising
We are fortunate to be able to book a bagpack session at the Halifax Asda store on Sunday
7th November from 10.00a.m. 4.00p.m.
Several swimmers have already volunteered.
More swimmers and adults needed too please. You don’t have to do the whole day.
Unfortunately, I have to be in Birmingham on that day so I hope somebody else can
volunteer to be the lead person. If so please let me know as soon as possible. Sophie is
collecting names.

Watch out for a Halloween tombola in the next
few weeks.

Winner
The winner of the September football card was Jane Heaton who received £10.
Well done

Schools Gala

The Annual Calderdale Schoolboys and Schoolgirls Championships will take place on Friday 19th November during our pool time from 8.00 – 9.15p.m.
The competition is open to all children under 16 on the date of the gala, who attend a Calderdale secondary school.
The events are 100m Freestyle for both boys and girls and a team event 3x50m Freestyle,
again for boys and girls. If you wish to enter please take your 100m Freestyle pb time to
the PE coordinator at your school who has the entry form. For the team event you need to
give the names of three swimmers.
The closing date for entries is 22nd October. Make
sure you see your teacher well before this date as late entries will not be accepted. I have spare forms if your PE coordinator has not received one.
Last year the team events
were won by Hipperholme and Lightcliffe School, Josh Berry won the boys event for Ryburn and Jessica Foulds won the Girls event for Hipperholme and Lightcliffe.

There will be no club training session on this night.
Halifax Invitation Meet
This annual event will take place on Saturday 13th November, warm up 7.00p.m. for a 7.30 start. The team will be chosen over the next few weeks. Everybody welcome to watch.
Successes
Although we haven’t seen much of Club Captain, Andrew Ball, this year, he has been busy in
competition.
During the summer he competed for the UK team in the World firefighter games
in South Korea. He finished in the top ten in 10 events, winning silver for 50m Breaststroke and
Bronze for 200m IM. He was also a member of three gold winning relay teams.
Clare Mack has been busy in the Open Water events, winning the Junior Ladies championship at Lake Coniston.
The synchro club had lots of successes at the last Leeds Kingfishers Invitation competition.
Out of 15 events the Halifax club entered 10 and received medals in all 10. Check out the results by clicking on the link on our website.
Several younger swimmers entered the last Bradford and District gala for the first time. Well done. Keep going.
Standback Observers
You might have noticed last night that the first groups did not get into the water to begin their
training session till 7.15p.m. This was because there were no parents sitting in the chairs. The safety of the children is paramount. Some of you
have been trained to take a turn in the chairs but seem not to be helping out. Others seem to want to leave the job to someone else. The children will not get into the water unless the chairs are occupied, thus losing valuable training time, which you are paying for. Please help us in this matter. You may
save a life.
