Fees
Due to the Calderdale Council’s financial constraints, pool hire is set to increase from 1st April by over £3000 per year. Unfortunately this means that fees will have to rise. The club will absorb the increase for the first month.
The new fee structure payable from 1st May is as follows.
Groups 1 & 2
£14.00
Anyone who trains for 1 hour per week
£17.00
Thursday/ Friday
£22.00
Junior Elite
£23.50
Elite
£26.00
Junior Elite and Elite swimmers will pay £2.10 at reception for sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Senior members per session
£ 3.50
Anyone who trains on Fridays is eligible to join Land training at 7.15 – 7.45p.m. The club will continue to absorb the cost for this session.
The club has made some adjustments to try to save money. The last session on Thursday will now finish at 9.30p.m so senior members may swim from 8.30p.m. There will be 15 minutes for dressing and the building will close at 9.45p.m. We will no longer need to pay for lifeguards.
Water polo
The cost for Water polo training will rise to £3.00 per session, payable every 10 weeks. There will be no refunds for missed sessions. For senior members, who only play occasionally the cost will be £3.50 per session.
Success
Josh Berry has been selected for the G.B. Junior Squad for the European Men’s Junior Qualification Tournament at Water Polo to be held between
5th - 10th April in Elektrenai Lithuania. They have been drawn in Group A against Turkey, Slovenia, Romania, FYRO Macedonia and Lithuania. The
top two qualify for the Finals later on in the year.
Well done, Josh.
Lost Property
I still have some missing T shirts. Did you leave yours at either of the last two galas? Come and ask. Better still please write your name in your own T shirt to be sure we can return it to you should it be left.

Press releases
Steve Berry is the designated Club press officer. In order to avoid any possible duplication of reports all articles relating to Halifax Swimming Club athletes, which need to be considered for publication must go to him, who will then forward them to the sports Editor. The editor will only accept copy from Steve.
What should you do if you have some news you want to share?
Ø Collect the relevant information from a gala or competition.
Ø Write your own report or talk to Steve who will help you to write it ready for publication
Ø Send your report to Steve. He’s at the club most Thursdays or you can ask me for his email address
Ø If photos of the athletes are needed, Steve will help or you can send him your own.
Ø When Steve is happy with the report he will forward it to the Courier and/or to the website or the newsletter.
Checking gala entries
Gareth Deacon will, in future, publish the gala entry list on the website after week 2 of collecting entries.
Please check that your entry is correct and remember there’s still time to get your entry in for the next gala in week 3.
New volunteer
As Steve Berry is following his own son’s sports career he will be not available to sort entries for the Yorkshire and North Eastern Region
competitions. Joanne Shaw has volunteered to join the Competition Secretary team.
Thank you Joanne and thank you Steve for all the work you have done to help.
Teacher /coach required
We are currently seeking a new volunteer to join the coaching team. If you are, or know anybody else, who is a level 2 teacher or actively working towards the Level 2 qualification please ask them to get in touch. We need someone to help at 7.00p.m on Thursdays and 8.00p.m on Fridays. Ideally they would have an interest in coaching.
