Gala 5
Please make sure all training fees are fully paid before the gala begins on 20th October. Failure to do this will result in your swimmer not being able to compete.

Halifax Invitation Meet.
This will take place on Saturday 12th November starting with warm up at 7.00p.m. All lanes have been taken and we look forward to a good night’s racing to try to win the George Barraclough Trophy.

Several people have approached members of the committee to try to ascertain how the swimmers are selected to swim in team events.
When we get an invitation to a gala like this, Ros asks Gareth who he wants, then Ros goes to ask the swimmers and parents if they are available. Unfortunately this has not worked out too well recently, so we will be looking at different ways to select the best squad. If you have any ideas please let me know and I will make sure the committee discuss the matter at the next meeting on 24th October so we find a system which produces more eligible swimmers.

Bradford Dolphins Invitation Gala
Well done to all who went to this meet. We asked so much of you and you responded with your very best efforts, some 11 years olds having to swim against adults. We were so proud. Thank you to you all and to the parents who helped on poolside.

Gala Calendar 2012.
Very soon we will be putting together the calendar of events for next year. If you think a particular meet was good for the swimmers in our club then please let me know as soon as possible. We are particularly looking for events where many swimmers can attend and create a good atmosphere; e.g. The Yorvik Meet. All suggestions will be considered.

Help Required
As Christine will be on holiday for the next two weeks, I would appreciate some help at the front desk. It will be very busy as it is payment time.
Thanks.

Advance Notice
The Annual Schools Gala will take place on Friday 18th November at 8.00p.m. The competition is open to any child under the age of 16 attending a Calderdale secondary school. The events are 100m Freestyle for boys and girls and also a 3x 50m relay team for boys and girls. Entry is via your games teacher at school. Please submit an entry time if you have one, and be quick. The closing date is not too far away.

There will be no Land Training and no swim training on that night.

Presentation Evening January 2012
This year we were able to offer Presentation Evening at a greatly reduced price due to the sterling efforts of a few parents and children who did a bagpack at Asda and raised £581.17.
Any ideas for this year?

British swimming Biographical Data
There have been two incidences this month where people have not been able to find Rankings on the British Swimming website. You need to find the biographical data page.

This site is intended to display information used within our sport. It lists your name, date of birth, current clubs, ranked club and details of your swims. This information has been obtained from your membership form and the results from licensed
meets you have competed in.

You are now able to register and add additional biographical information. This may then be changed by you at any time using your password.

This information will also be used at swimming events to help announcers and commentators. The electronic form should help keep the data accurate.

Why not check your page out and make any changes you feel necessary. Go to  www.swimming.org , find the ASA section which will lead you to Results and Ranking where you will find the member’s biogs.
