Hello everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of a newsletter which, we hope will keep you informed of the latest news in the club. If you have something you would like to share with everyone please let Mary know. If you can design a better newsletter, please come forward. Your help will be appreciated.

Training Aid

Those of you who were at the last gala would have noticed Gareth playing with his latest new training aid, an underwater video camera, which will be used to help with training. He already has found ways in which he can help individual swimmers with their techniques.

Sponsors

The camera was purchased by our Sponsors for 2009, Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Childcare Limited. The company is sponsoring all our internal galas for this year and has also bought the projector which is used in Land training on Fridays. They are keen to promote an active lifestyle for young people.  We thank them for choosing to support our club.

Galas

Gala 2 was short of competitors in some events. Remember, we are a competitive club and children are expected to compete as soon as the teachers or coaches think they are able. Entries for gala 3 should be handed in at the front desk by July 2nd.

Gala 3 is on 30th July.

Competitions

If you think your child is ready to compete against other swimmers from other clubs, talk firstly to your child’s coach. You then need to find those who put the entries in for different competitions.

Ros Somerville-Jones for competitions at Bradford and District and Kirklees and District, galas, probably the first kind of competition your child should enter beyond our internal galas.

Clive Truelove for A, B and C grade competitions.

Steve Berry for Yorkshire, North East Region and National competitions.

Details of the competitions are available on our notice boards opposite the Disabled changing rooms.

Punctuality

The warm up at the beginning of a session is vital to the athlete’s safe training. Please make sure your child is on time for every session.

New help on the poolside

Welcome to Jayne Dyson who is now helping with coaching at 7.00p.m on Thursdays. She has level 1 teaching qualification and is keen to develop her own skills further.

Fees

Pool hire for 2009-10 has risen by 5%. We will try to keep the fees at their current level as long as we can. Watch this space for further news!

Lost Property

Award Winners T Shirt 2007 left at Gala 1. See Mary if it’s yours.
