Yorkshires update: Gold and Bronze for Halifax

Sheffield-- Lewis Wainwright finished first in the heats for the boys 16-years 50m fly in a time of 27.89. It came as no surprise then, that he won Gold in the finals, swimming 28.02. Lewis also qualified for the 50m free final, finishing 9th in a time of 27.56. 


Matthew Greidanus, competing in the boys 18-years & over 50m breast, cruised into the finals with a time of 30.96. Matthew won Bronze in a time of 31.44. Matthew also made the finals for the 50m fly, finishing in 8th place in a time of 27.53. Matthew's next meet will be the British Championships in Edinburgh the first week in March, here he'll compete in the 50m and 100m breast events. 


Halifax swimmers who made their finals also include:


Gina Speakman: 50 free, 28.69. 4th place

                               50 breast, 37.42, 8th place


Tom Sandford: 50 breast, 34.61,  7th place


Congratulations to all our finalists and swimmers. Well done, too, to Molly Roberts, first-reserve finalist in the girls, 14-years 50m breaststroke, who swam 38.07, qualifying her for her first Northeast Regionals Championships later this year.
