Andrew Raine qualifies for 2017 British Championships

On Sunday the 23rd April, Andrew Raine was at ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield to take part in the 2017 British Swimming Championships.

After achieving a qualifying time at last years North East Regional Championships in Sunderland, Raine will took to the pool in the 50m Butterfly with a time of 26.28 seconds. 

With a brilliant swim of 26.62 Andrew came 27th overall out of the Junior age group, which is an amazing achievement and one to be proud of.

Also competing in the event was none other than Ben Proud, the 50m Butterfly Commonwealth Champion, who managed to swim a new British record on the day. Various other Olympians were competing over the week making the competition one of a very high standard.

In 2014, Andrew made his debut at the British Gas National Age Groups Championships swimming a personal best in the 100m Butterfly and from there went on to be invited to the 2016 ASA Summer Nationals for his 50m, 100m and 200m Butterfly. However the 2017 British Championships have been his biggest competition to date.
